Course Description

Pathways 101
This course is designed to develop students knowledge of employability skills and career exploration.
Topics covered include writing a CV and cover letter for a job, communication, team work, self-management skills and career exploration and planning. It is a theory based course with practical application where applicable.
Course Overview
Term 1
Life skills theme and Introduction to career exploration
Students develop senior classroom work skills including research and self-management skills.
Impact of alcohol and other drugs
Community agencies and services provided
Team work
Term 2
Employability and careers skills
Students are beginning to search for part-time jobs - this package will help set them up.
They will develop the confidence and skills to gain (or change) employment
CV writing
Formal correspondence and cover letters
Interview skills
Term 3
Employability/life skills theme
Students develop future planning skills and knowledge required for independent living.
Completing Forms
Driving preparation
Decision making - Purchasing household consumables
Term 4
Career Exploration and Future Planning
Students explore options for future study and employment and produce a plan for their next steps.
Pathway
This course provides students with a range of skills and knowledge to support future pathway decisions.
