Personal Financial Capability
This course follows on from PFC201 to develop the ideas in personal finance including investments, house financing, long term goals, Insurance and Kiwi Saver. The aim is to help students manage their own financial situations at University and beyond. The course is unit standard based but students can gain Merit and Excellence grades. A device and a calculator are strongly recommend for this course.
There is a strong need to be able to articulate your thoughts independently both through discussion and in written form.
It is expected and an advantage for students to have a personal computer to enable work completion.

Term 1
Term 1 course looks at Increasing Personal Income and Credit Options
Term 2
Term 2 is Financial goals, including budgeting and a Personal Investment portfolio
Term 3
Some standards may continue from Term 2. The Unit Standard to be studied is Purchasing a property
Term 4
The final Unit Standard is the effects that External Factors have on personal finances.
