Entry to this course is at the discretion of the Head of Learning Support and the Teacher in Charge of English Language Learners (ELL), based on diagnostic testing.



English Language Learners 201
This course offers a programme which provides English Language Learners (ELL) with an opportunity to improve their skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students also work on extending their English vocabulary. Students are supported in developing their writing, with a focus on different text types, such as information texts, descriptions and recounts.


The ELL201 course is primarily for Year 11 English Language Learners, but Year 12 and 13 English Language Learners may join if appropriate. There is diagnostic testing done throughout the year to monitor students' progression. Assessments are offered at multiple levels (Foundation, NCEA Level 1, and NCEA Level 2)

Digital learning is a key component of this class.
