Early Childhood Education

The course includes a 10 day work experience placement at a local Early Childhood Centre. Students taking this course need to have a genuine interest in Early Childhood Education with the possibility of pursuing it as a career. It could also be of interest to students interested in other care based careers such as teaching, nursing, nanny work, and care giving.

Work experience placements are offered on the basis of completed school work, reliability and trustworthiness. Students are expected to find their own way to the centre in which they are placed. Students must undergo a police check before being placed in a childcare centre.

Recommended Prior Learning

Early Childhood Education in Year 12 would be beneficial. Students taking this course must have a genuine interest in childcare and early development.
