Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Prerequisite courses or standards                                                                                           

Working at a Level 5 or above for the Progress Outcomes; Designing and Developing Digital Outcomes, Computational Thinking and Technology Process. 

This course is open entry to students however it is an academic course and students should preferably have studied in 10CSI or 10DIT and passed the following criteria.

Working at Level 5 or above in Technology Process.
Gained an 'AT' or above on the Programming assessments.

Students who do not meet the above criteria are expected to discuss their suitability for the course with the HOD (Head of Department) Mr Foulds and show commitment to completing online coding courses in preparation for February 2024.


Computer Science Information 101

The course is suited to those who enjoyed all aspects of the Year 10DIT or 10CSI courses particularly the Computer Science concepts.
There will be four main Computer Science topics with a project for each. Students will have time to explore the concepts and be creative in developing their own Digital Outcomes.

  • Computer Science - Compression Coding

One Achievement Standard is offered in:

  • Digital Technologies 1.1 - 92004 (5 credits): Create a computer program

Students will have a strong interest in problem solving, working independently and collaboratively as well as a desire to develop software solutions.

Students can also take the option DIT101 as this course compliments CSI101.
