To do this course you will need to enjoy:


Enjoy working with fabrics, and want to make textile products ?  (not clothes)

(This course is dependent on numbers and may be combined with the Fashion course if required. If it is a combined Fashion & Textiles course students will complete a project from each course; one textiles project and one fashion project.)

In this course students will learn about different types of fabrics, their properties and characteristics. Within each project the students will learn different sewing and fabric manipulation techniques. This course will focus on create textile items, through textile techniques. These could include: fabric painting, fabric dyeing, applique work, fabric printing, fabric manipulations etc...

(Please not this course does not including making clothes)

Students will learn:

  • to explore textile techniques
  • about different types of fibres and fabrics
  • how to use the sewing machine
  • how to hand sew
  • how to develop your creativity
  • how to follow a design process to design and make textile items or artworks

Students will be required to purchase stationery items on the school stationery list, ready for the start of the course.
