Recommended Prior Learning

There is no recommended prior learning for this course. Students who choose to do Dance at Year 10 will have an interest in performance, will be willing to move their bodies and experiment with movement in new ways to compose dance sequences, and will be willing to collaborate and learn in a group environment.

10 Dance

In Year 10 Dance, students will experience a broad range of different styles of dance which may include Bollywood, Contemporary, Gumboot Dance and Musical Theatre and Jive. Students will study the elements of dance and how these are used to create choreography and enhance performance. Choreography is an important part of the course and students will explore movement using choreographic devices to compose dance. 

Students will develop skills in creative processes, evaluation, innovation, communicating ideas, and collaborating effectively with others.

Participation in a group dance performance for a live public audience is a compulsory aspect of the programme.

					Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
										

Students are required to wear clothing suitable for movement. This may include track pants, shorts or leggings, a t-shirt or singlet and bare feet or jazz shoes.

‘TC Dance’ t-shirts and hoodies may be available for purchase throughout the year. These are optional.
