10 Dance

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr N. Brown

In Year 10 Dance, students will experience a broad range of different styles of dance, including Bollywood, Contemporary and Hip-Hop dance. Students will study the elements of dance and how these are used to  create choreography and enhance performance. Choreography is an important part of the course and students will explore movement using choreographic devices to compose dance. 

Participation in a group dance performance for a live public audience is a compulsory aspect of the programme. 

Students will develop skills in creative processes, evaluation, innovation, communicating ideas, and collaborating effectively with others.

NCEA Level 1 Dance 101

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students are required to wear a Dance uniform in plain black. Suitable attire includes black track pants, shorts or leggings, plain black top and optional jazz shoes or bare feet.

‘TC Dance’ t-shirts and hoodies will be available for purchase (cost $30-$60)
Jazz Shoes are also available for purchase throughout the year (cost $50)
