Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs B. Sheridan.

English (Literary) 201

This course will help you to make connections between texts and contexts. You will develop stronger reading skills, compile a portfolio of your own writing over the course of the year, have an encounter with Shakespeare's plays, and sharpen your close viewing skills with a film study. Other text studies in this course will include a focus on poems and/or short stories, as well as a novel.

Course Overview

Term 1
Study of short literary texts, as well as a film study. The term will conclude with an internally assessed close viewing analysis, based on the film study in class.

Term 2
This term will involve a Shakespeare study, while also making time for writing, as well as the development of close reading skills. The Shakespeare study will culminate in an internally assessed written essay.

Term 3
In Term 3, students will complete and submit a portfolio of writing for internal assessment. The term will also include a novel study in order to build students' complex reading skills, and to prepare them for the November exam.
