NUM101

Level 1 Mathematics for Numeracy 101

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs L. MacEwan.

Numeracy 101

NUM101 is a required course for anyone who does not have the numeracy corequisite. From 2023 you must have Numeracy in order to achieve Level 1, 2 or 3 in NCEA.

The course is designed to help prepare students for the online assessment. Numeracy is not mathematics. Numeracy is being able to apply knowledge to everyday situations and decision making.

For Year 12 and 13 students, this will be a sixth subject which will drop to a study once they have passed the Common assessment task offered in June and October.

For Year 11 students, once they gain Numeracy they will work on Financial Literacy Unit standards or may be able to pick up another subject.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students will be placed by the HOD Mathematics in this course  at the end of the year. Students will be advised.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

There is an optional numeracy books students can purchase.
