In this course you will work on:

  • an architectural project
  • an industrial design project

What you will learn:

  • how to sketch in 2D and 3D
  • creative design techniques
  • how to follow and use a design process
  • how to apply colour to show tonal shading, materiality and texture 
  • how to think like a designer 
  • how to communicate as a designer 
  • model making skills

Course Overview

Term 1
Design drawing basics 101:
1) Learning how to construct isometric and two point perspective drawings
2) how to apply colour to make your designs look realsitic

Term 2
Product Design Project:
You will be set a design brief to design a product. You will be guided through the design process, and will learn the basics of how to think like a designer.

Term 3
Archtitecture Project:
You will be set a design brief to design a structure. You will be guided through the design process, and will learn the basics of how to think like a designer.

Term 4
Model Making:
You will learn basic model making skills as a way to help you communicate your design ideas to others.

Recommended Prior Learning

To do this course you will need to enjoy:

  • learning how to do design drawing 
  • the process of designing and creating design portfolios
  • learning how to apply colour to drawings to make them look realsitic
  • model making

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students will be required to purchase the items on the school stationery list, ready for the start of the course.
