Course Description

Mathematics I 201


This course is for students who have had success in some achievement standards at Level 1, but whose algebra skills are below the level necessary to cope with the MATE201  course. This course is designed around the Level 2 Achievement Standards and Level 7 of the New Zealand Mathematics Curriculum.

This course can be used as a prerequisite to MATI301


Course Overview

Term 1
This term they will be working on the following internal standards, Simulations and Networks.

Term 2
This term they will be working on the following internal standards, Sequences and Series and Geometry.

Term 3
This term they will be working on the internal standards Trigonometry and Inference. They will also begin work on the external standard Probability.

Term 4
This term they will continue working on the external standard Probability.

Recommended Prior Learning

Compulsory: = A minimum of 10 credits from Achievement Standards
Students who do not meet these criteria may be placed in this subject by HOD discretion.

MATI201 is a required course for anyone intending to study University/trade courses requiring Mathematics and/or Statistics.
