NCEA Level 3 Outdoor Education and Sport
Course Description
Outdoor Education and Sport:
This course offers a mixture of Level 3 credits which are Achievement Standards and Unit Standards.
It is open to both level 2 and level 3 students. However, if this course is taken in Year 12 it can not be taken again in Y13.
It covers the following topics: Rock Climbing, Injury Management, River Safety, Safety Management, Badminton and Training for a physical activity.
This course is not a University Entrance subject but it is a great option for those who wish to gain NCEA Level 3. Students must have good attendance and be willing to attend days off site to complete the course

AS91504 Analyse issues in safety management for outdoor activity to devise safety management strategies
Recommended Prior Learning
This course is open to Year 12 & 13 students. It is Level 3 credits. If taken in Y12 it can not be taken in Y13.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Requires half a day preparation at Fergs Rock & Kayak to ensure belaying skills are up to scratch. Two days for Rock climbing. Then 1 or 2 days to do River Crossing.
