Course Description

Health 201:
This course will continue from the Level 1 course. It will cover a range of health topics including, resilience, health promotion and adolescent health issues. Specific topics can be tailored to suit the students’ needs and interests. There will be an emphasis on promoting positive well-being and developing strategies people can use at a personal, interpersonal and societal level. It is aimed at any student with an interest in developing personal and academic skills, or for a career in the community and social services. The curriculum demands critical thinking, analysis, written and oral competency and the ability to relate to others. The course leads on to level 3 Health which is an entry to university subject.
Course Overview
Term 1
Resilience- Research a resilient role model.
Term 2
Health promotion. Helping others improve their health and well-being.
Term 3
Analyse gender and sexuality issues- This could include the investigation of women in hip hop videos.
Term 4
Preparation for the external. - Analyse an adolescent health issue.
