Physical Education and Health

The philosophy of Junior Physical Education is to give students a wide range of experiences and knowledge to enable them to develop lifelong intrinsic fitness habits for the benefit of their future health and well-being. Practical activities are in five-week blocks: Athletics, Cross Country, Running for Fitness, Invasion Games, Movement/Dance, Badminton, Tennis, Volleyball, Ki o Rahi, Striking/bat sports and AFL. KEY COMPETENCIES: Self-Management, Participating and Contributing as well as SKILLS and FITNESS are the focus throughout the year. Health Studies aims to increase knowledge and understanding of wellbeing to enable students to understand the importance resiliency and other factors play in a long and healthy lifestyle. Topics will include ways of coping with stress/anxiety and relaxation, keeping our bodies safe and cyber-safety.
